Scott County Search and Rescue K9 Unit

We are a trained civilian resource that is part of the Scott County Emergency Management Agency based in southeast Missouri. We work to maintain the highest standards and understand that it is a major time commitment but enjoy the rigors of search and rescue training.

To maintain realism and sharpen our skills, we train in all weather conditions and seasons. Training sites are varied and the exercises include night work, canine agility courses, parks, buildings, woods, fields, and rubble. Each dog is required to pass obedience, temperament, agility and search tests.

Our human team members have completed courses in First Aid (Human and K9), CPR, Radio Communications, and map and compass orientation. We are also one of the few K9 Search and Rescue teams in the country that is also a Community Emergency Response Team. When available we also attend seminars on various search techniques to enable us to be better searchers ourselves.

Our Mission
